DegreeVerify Grows To More Than 1,000 Colleges;
Includes 54% Of All US
Degrees
Newest Participants Include the University of Miami
HERNDON, VA, June 7, 2005 - The National
Student Clearinghouse, the
nation's trusted source for degree and enrollment information, today
announced that its online degree verification service, DegreeVerify, has
grown to 1,015 participating institutions. DegreeVerify contains information
on 54% of all degrees awarded in the US, making it the nation's largest
source of degree data. One of the newest institutions to go live with
DegreeVerify is the University of Miami, a prestigious private research
university in the southeastern United States. DegreeVerify is free to
participating institutions.
Participating in DegreeVerify relieves colleges and universities from the
administrative burden of processing degree verifications. Requestors confirm
degrees online instantly at www.degreeverify.org
or integrate the data into their internal applications via Web services. The
Clearinghouse is the only provider to offer manual, EDI and real-time Web
service options. More than 10,000 requestors use DegreeVerify each year,
including many of the country's leading background screening firms and
employers.
"The University of Miami has a large and diverse alumni population
located throughout the US and the world," said Cindy Koon, associate
registrar at the University of Miami, "DegreeVerify provides us with
the flexibility to provide instant degree verifications to our alumni's
prospective employers around the clock." More than 15,000 undergraduate
and graduate students attend the University of Miami, located in Coral
Gables, Florida.
Over the past 12 months, the number of institutions participating in
DegreeVerify increased nearly 25%. According to Daniel Boehmer, president
of the National Student Clearinghouse, "The steady growth that
DegreeVerify has experienced in the three years since its launch is a clear
indication that the collegiate registrar community recognizes the accuracy
and efficiency of the service and values the substantial time-savings
benefits it yields to their institutions."
