This lesson demonstrates how to request a transcript from a high school.

As a Transcript Center user, let’s explore how to request and retrieve transcripts and documents.

In addition to exchanging transcripts, Transcript Center may be used to exchange other student documents and records, such as immunization records. If your state model allows, all documents may be transmitted to and from secondary and postsecondary institutions.

To request a transcript or document, from your Transcript Center Home page, select “Request a student document”. Please note only one request may be done at a time.

Use the “Search for an Institution tab” to select the institution from which the student document is to be requested. There are several filters to help narrow the list of participating Transcript Center institutions.

If you frequently request transcripts from the desired recipient, use the Most Frequently Used Recipients tab to identify the institution quicker.

Once the institution is located, select the radio button to the left of the institution’s name.

The institution now displays in the “Requested Institution” section. Select “Next”.

Fill out the requested student’s information. Required fields are identified with an asterisk (*).

Next, indicate the urgency of your request.

If you require the student’s end of term grades for the current term, select ‘End of Term’. Otherwise, select immediate.

Upload any documents you would like included in your request.

Lastly, select the checkbox for any statement that is true in the Certify Information section.

Your selections are provided to the receiving institution of your request to determine if the student has consented to the release of his, her, or their record as required by FERPA.

Select the first statement if the student has applied or is currently enrolled at your institution.

Select the second statement if the student has provided your institution with consent to obtain records of their previous academic performance. For this selection, we recommend attaching a copy of the consent form to this request.

When you’re ready, select Next.

Review your request.

You have the option to include a message with your delivery.

Select “Send”.

Your request has been submitted. The confirmation page includes a Tracking number, which you can use to inquire about the status of the request.

Select “Request another record” to request a transcript from another institution, or “Done” to return to the Transcript Center home page.
